Position:           Utility/Commercial Project Manager

Summary Description:

The Project Manager is responsible for the on-time execution of projects. The Project Manager will manage timelines, budgets, and contracts in order to ensure the successful execution of contracted projects. Additionally, the Commercial Project Manager will assist the balance of the project team during planning, estimating, design, and installation, start-up, commissioning, turnover, and warranty of assigned projects

Commercial Project Manager Job Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Assist team in planning PV projects
  • Identify, negotiate with and contract subcontractors
  • Work with project team to coordinate project installations from contract award through project completion
  • Lead weekly project management meetings to effectively communicate project progress and expectations to all stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Occasional on site supervision of construction projects through completion ensuring that projects meet time, budget and quality expectations
  • Recognize risks that would likely impact the project success through its lifecycle
  • Coordinate and update customer contact throughout process



PM Activities

  • Build and manage project schedules
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors
  • Manage contract reporting compliance
  • Confer with construction management personnel to monitor the progress, productivity, compliance, and quality
  • Assist in the development of and manage work instructions for construction tasks across commercial and utility PV plants
  • Ensure proper execution of field inspections at projects under construction and audit quality documentation and design specifications compliance
  • Communicate best practices to construction superintendents
  • Assist with the development of comprehensive task manuals and work procedures across solar PV components and assemblies
  • Assist with commissioning of completed PV plants
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and client safety practices
  • Review and approve material invoices, rental agreements and subcontract payments
  • Review and approve subcontract pricing and SOU



  • Assist in the development of training curriculum to develop skills of field personnel
  • Assist Construction Manager in communication of procedures to field personnel
  • Attend regular training (as required or directed)



Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Highly proficient in technical aspects of commercial and utility solar PV construction or general construction
  • 5+ years of construction project management experience required
  • Working knowledge of complex electrical systems and components preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, extreme attention to detail, and commitment to producing high quality work product, and ability to multi-task under tight time pressures
